The Yasuhara T981 is an interesting blend of old meets new in a 35mm rangefinder. Produced in the late 1990s by an ex-Kyocera engineer Shin Yasuhara by the Phenix Camera Company in China, the Yasuhara T981 offers a blend of classic feel and use combined with modern technological elements. The Yasuhara T981 hearkens back to the Leica M39 rangefinders of the 1950s in appearance and heft. It uses Leica threadmount (M39) lenses with a coupled rangefinder in the viewfinder. The camera features a built-in LED light meter and a vertically-travelling, metal-bladed shutter that has a top speed of 1/2000 (along with a flash sync of 1/125). The Yasuhara T981 was built in small numbers and is a relatively uncommon camera.
